President Aoun calls for true partnership with diaspora, urges their involvement in reconstruction and major projects

President Joseph Aoun emphasized the crucial role of the Lebanese diaspora during the launch of the Fourth Emigrants Economic Conference, saying: “Since the beginning of the crisis, one lifeline has remained open — the Lebanese expatriate — proving that the diaspora has never been distant from Lebanon, but has always been its support and hope.”

He thanked expatriates for “the efforts they continue to make for Lebanon,” and stressed the need for “a true partnership,” adding: “We want the expatriate to be an investor and a partner in decision-making.”

Aoun underlined the importance of reconnecting Lebanon to a productive regional role and called for the diaspora to be involved in reconstruction and major development projects in the region.

“We must work on serious economic diplomacy,” he added, noting that the conference is “an opportunity to build new prospects with the Arab world.”
