PM Salam reassures Lebanese: No panic needed, government monitoring regional developments

Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam on Saturday sought to reassure citizens amid regional tensions, saying there is no reason for panic and that essential supplies and services remain secure.

Salam told the public that food, medicine, and fuel are available in Lebanese markets for at least two months. 

He emphasized that the government has long taken precautionary measures to address potential regional conflicts and that the current climate of tension is not new.

He added that diplomatic efforts are ongoing to prevent Lebanon from being affected by the war unfolding in the region. “I, along with President Aoun, have initiated all necessary diplomatic contacts to shield Lebanon from the consequences of this conflict,” Salam said.

Salam confirmed that Beirut’s Airport is operating normally and that Middle East Airlines continues flights to all destinations whose airspace remains open today.

The prime minister also called on Lebanese citizens to exercise wisdom, patriotism, and rationality to prevent the country from being drawn into regional hostilities.
