Israeli Defense Minister says buffer zone planned in South Lebanon up to Litani River

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said Israel plans to establish a buffer zone inside South Lebanon and maintain control over the area up to the Litani River.

In remarks, Katz said displaced residents of southern Lebanon, estimated at around 600,000, would not be able to return until the safety of residents in northern Israel is guaranteed.

He also stated that all homes in villages near the border in Lebanon would be destroyed as part of the plan.
