UN Special Coordinator in Lebanon urges immediate halt to fighting

United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine-Hennis Plasschaert, said that the wave of Israeli airstrikes today came at a time when hopes were rising for a possible end to violence and destruction.

She wrote on X: “This situation cannot continue. Neither side can achieve victory through gunfire or bombing.”

Plasschaert added: “The time has come to stop all hostilities, engage in direct negotiations, and establish a clear roadmap based on Resolution 1701.”
