Government sources to LBCI: PM Salam delays US visit to oversee security plan in Lebanon

Government sources told LBCI that Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has postponed his visit to the United States, noting that the trip will take place soon and that communication lines with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio remain open.

The sources said Salam's decision to stay in Lebanon is aimed at closely monitoring the implementation of a security plan designed to prevent internal unrest and to prevent destabilizing elements from exploiting the streets during a particularly sensitive period.

They stressed that the current circumstances do not allow for miscalculations that could further inflame tensions.
