Official sources to LBCI: Washington meeting focused on ceasefire, part of longer negotiation process

Official sources told LBCI that Tuesday’s meeting in Washington is specifically dedicated to discussing a ceasefire, in line with the U.S. State Department’s statement, stressing that Lebanon remains firmly committed to this objective.

The sources said it is not possible to determine in advance what additional topics may be raised, given that the meeting is a direct one between the parties. However, they noted that, from the Lebanese side, broader issues beyond the ceasefire will be left to larger delegations expected to handle negotiations in the next phase.

They added that the outcome of the meeting will not be final, as it forms part of a longer negotiation track.

According to the sources, the U.S. side has shown a strong understanding of Lebanon’s position, with the elevation of American representation to the level of Secretary of State reflecting Washington’s seriousness in handling the Lebanon file.
