Israeli Channel 12: US proposal for temporary ceasefire in Lebanon as Israel insists on separating Lebanon and Iran fronts

Israeli Channel 12 reported, citing an Israeli official, that U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff had proposed a one-week ceasefire in Lebanon.

According to the report, Israel insisted on separating the Lebanese and Iranian fronts, rejecting the idea of linking any de-escalation in Lebanon to broader regional arrangements.

Channel 12 also cited an Israeli security official as saying that Washington is proposing a temporary truce on the Lebanese front, with a defined timeframe for resuming military operations, similar to arrangements being discussed regarding Iran.

The same security official added that Washington is seeking a calm on the Lebanese front in order to focus efforts on negotiations with Iran.
