Lebanese Parliament Speaker condemns attack on UN peacekeepers

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri condemned on Saturday the attack on French U.N. peacekeepers, which France accused Hezbollah of committing.

In a statement shared by his office, Berri "condemned the attack on a patrol belonging to the French contingent serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in South Lebanon."

The speaker "praised the sacrifices made by UNIFIL forces over the decades, particularly the French contingent," and contacted UNIFIL Force Commander General Diodato Abagnara to offer his condolences.
