US hosts Israeli, Lebanese military delegations at Pentagon, stresses Lebanon free of armed non-state actors

U.S. Under Secretary of War for Policy Elbridge Colby said the Pentagon hosted military delegations from Israel and Lebanon on Friday as part of the security track supporting ongoing peace negotiations between the two countries.

In a statement, Colby described the talks as “productive military-to-military discussions” that will help inform the political negotiations led by the U.S. State Department next week.

The Department of War values the partnership with both the Israeli and Lebanese armies, Colby said.

He reiterated U.S. support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, adding that Washington backs a Lebanon “free of armed non-state actors.”

Colby also welcomed what he described as “historic efforts” aimed at advancing U.S. President Donald Trump’s vision for peace.

The United States expects to reconvene the security-track discussions in the near future as diplomatic efforts continue, according to the statement.
