Mayor of Sahnaya shot dead following clashes; Syrian authorities launch investigation

The mayor of the Syrian city of Sahnaya was shot and killed, a day after deadly clashes.

While Syrian General Security announced it had opened an investigation into the incident, the mayor was last seen on Tuesday evening welcoming General Security representatives following a meeting between Druze community leaders and government officials in Darayya.
