China hopes parties in Iran war seize opportunity for peace

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Tuesday, in response to a question about a U.S. ceasefire proposal—mediated by Pakistan and rejected by Iran—that China hopes the concerned parties will seize the opportunity for peace and overcome their differences through dialogue.

She added during a regular press briefing that China welcomes all serious efforts and supports Pakistan’s active mediation.

She stressed that reaching a ceasefire as soon as possible and resuming dialogue are shared hopes of the international community, noting that China is ready to play a constructive role.
