First US-Venezuela direct flight in seven years leaves Miami

The first direct flight from the United States to Venezuela in seven years departed for Caracas on Thursday from Miami, an AFP reporter at the airport said.

The American Airlines flight, which will operate round-trip daily, was inaugurated months after U.S. forces deposed Venezuela's leftist leader Nicolas Maduro, a nemesis of Washington.
