China urges US to maintain stable bilateral ties, warns over Taiwan issue

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called on the United States to “maintain stability in bilateral relations” during a phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, according to Beijing.

In a statement, China’s Foreign Ministry said Wang also told Rubio that the Taiwan issue remains “the biggest risk factor” in relations between the two countries.

The call comes two weeks ahead of a planned visit by U.S. President Donald Trump to China.
