EU says risk for Europeans from hantavirus is 'low'

The risk for Europeans from hantavirus is "low,” the EU said on Thursday, after a Dutch woman who was on a cruise ship at the centre of an international alert died of the virus in South Africa.

"I have to repeat that according to the evidence that we have at the moment, the risk for the public in Europe, the risk for the Europeans is low," EU spokeswoman Eva Hrncirova said.
