Political analyst Scott Jennings says US-Iran agreement '95% complete' but still facing disputes

Political analyst Scott Jennings said to CNN that a potential agreement between the United States and Iran has not yet been finalized, describing it as "95% complete" but still subject to disagreements over some wording and formulations.

Jennings said no agreement would be signed today, adding that negotiations could require several more days before a final deal is reached.

He also said Iran would not receive any upfront financial benefits or sanctions relief, stressing that Tehran would first be required to hand over its nuclear stockpile before obtaining any concessions.

According to Jennings, the U.S. position is that if Iran fails to comply with its commitments under the agreement, it "will get nothing."

He added that the proposed deal is expected to unfold in two phases. The first phase would involve reopening the Strait of Hormuz and easing pressure on the global economy in exchange for Iran agreeing to relinquish enriched uranium.

The second phase, he said, would involve the transfer of nuclear materials, after which Iran could begin receiving sanctions relief.
