Russia says open to local 'humanitarian' ceasefires in Ukraine

Russia said Monday it was open to the idea of short-term local "humanitarian" ceasefires in Ukraine, ahead of an upcoming U.S.-brokered truce in the ravaged Russian-occupied city of Oleshky.

Asked whether Russia would consider truces in other areas near the front, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters: "For humanitarian purposes, absolutely."
