Cabinet session begins as army chief briefs ministers on south

Lebanon's President Joseph Aoun met with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam Thursday at Baabda Palace ahead of a cabinet session convened to discuss urgent national matters.

The cabinet session got underway shortly after their meeting.

The Lebanese army commander is also taking part in part of the session, during which he will present a report on the military's activities in southern Lebanon amid ongoing tensions along the border.
