President Aoun receives call from Macron offering condolences, discusses ceasefire efforts

Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun received a phone call from French President Emmanuel Macron, who expressed his condolences over the victims killed in Israeli attacks that targeted neighborhoods in Beirut, its suburbs, Mount Lebanon, the South, and the Bekaa earlier in the day.

Macron also conveyed his solidarity, as well as that of the French people, with Lebanon and its citizens during these difficult circumstances.

The two leaders discussed the latest developments following the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, and the start of negotiations scheduled for next Friday.

Macron expressed his readiness to carry out the necessary diplomatic efforts to ensure that the ceasefire agreement would also include Lebanon, in a bid to put an end to Israeli attacks on the country.

For his part, Aoun thanked Macron for his continued support for Lebanon and its people, as well as for the assistance provided by France to help ease the suffering of Lebanese citizens who were forcibly displaced from their towns and villages.
