Aboul Gheit in call with PM Salam: Arab League supports Lebanon’s negotiations and state authority measures in Beirut

Ahmed Aboul Gheit held a phone call with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, during which he reaffirmed full solidarity with Lebanon amid what he described as a brutal Israeli assault and stressed the need to include Lebanon in a recently reached ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran.

Aboul Gheit listened to Salam’s assessment of the difficult situation in Lebanon due to ongoing Israeli attacks, expressing support for the Lebanese government’s decisions to strengthen full state authority over Beirut and restrict weapons exclusively to legitimate state forces.

Arab League spokesperson Jamal Rushdi said the secretary-general also supported Lebanon’s decision to engage in negotiations to reach a lasting solution to its conflict with Israel, expressing hope that all parties will create the necessary conditions for successful talks.
