Canada reaffirms support for Lebanon, pledges $40 million in humanitarian aid

Canada has reaffirmed its support for Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity, while announcing $40 million in humanitarian assistance amid the ongoing war.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji received a phone call from his Canadian counterpart, Anita Anand, who reiterated Ottawa's backing for Lebanon's constitutional institutions and for efforts to extend state authority across the country's territory.

Anand also condemned Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon, saying they have resulted in civilian casualties, and stressed Canada's support for decisions taken by the Lebanese government to reinforce state sovereignty.

She informed Rajji that Canada has allocated $40 million in humanitarian aid to Lebanon, to be delivered through international relief organizations.

For his part, Rajji expressed Lebanon's appreciation for Canada's supportive stance and briefed Anand on the country's stance regarding recent developments and the broader regional situation.
