Germany and France to launch joint initiative for peace in Lebanon

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said Berlin and Paris plan to launch a joint initiative aimed at achieving peace in Lebanon.

“We and France want to develop a common policy toward Lebanon to increase the chances of achieving peace in the Middle East,” Wadephul told the German newspaper Der Tagesspiegel.

The initiative is expected to be announced during the German-French ministerial council meeting scheduled for July 17.
